 Pro-Slag™ - Calcium silicate slags dissolve MgO, and early slags lower in C/S ratio demand anywhere from 12-18% MgO and do the most damage to refractory linings and maintenance materials. Pro-Slag™, our low-cost slag conditioner that contains soluble MgO and carbon, can help improve yield while providing 100% of the MgO demand. Use of Pro-Slag™, will increase bulk viscosity for creamy slags resulting in higher-foaming slags. Creamy slags leave the furnace lining well-coated, providing a “sacrificial” lining for the next heat. Pro-Slag™, will also help reduce power consumption, electrode consumption, nitrogen, refractory wear, injection materials, and can reduce bath sulfur by reducing or eliminating charge carbon. Pro-Slag™ technology, compositions, methods and applications are covered by patents in many Pacific Rim countries including South Korea and Taiwan, while patents are pending in most other steelmaking countries including the United States, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Europe, India, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, and Venezuela. Pro-Foam™ - An MgO-Carbon based, sized aggregate suitable for injection into Electric Furnaces for melting and refining steel. Pro-Foam™ products further condition the slag for better foaming. Pro-Foam™ is available in a wide range of compositions from 15 to 60% MgO to provide a balance of MgO and Carbon to optimize the foaming process. Cal-Mag™ - An MgO based slag conditioner used as a primary source of magnesium oxide to satisfy slags for MgO. Cal-Mag™ contains over 65% MgO with supplemental CaO and gas formers to promote foaming and is essentially carbon free for use where carbon is undesirable for metallurgical purposes.
